Early Life & Background
Roony Bardghji was born in Kuwait in 2005 to Syrian parents and moved to Sweden at the age of 6 in search of opportunity. Whilst growing up in Kallinge, he developed as a football player in local academies until he made the step up to Malmö FF's youth academy in 2019. In 2020, he transferred to FC Copenhagen's youth setup. By the age of 16, he was already making headlines in Denmark's top division.
Professional Career
On the 21st of November 2021, Bardghji made his debut in the Danish Superliga for Copenhagen FC, becoming the club's youngest ever player to make a first-team appearance. A week later, he scored his first goal for the club. During his time in Denmark, he made 84 appearnces for Copenhagen FC, scoring 15 goals, and winning 3 league titles and 2 Danish Cups.
In May 2024, Bardghji suffered a serious ACL injury, which put him on the sidelines for 10 months. After a 334 day recovery period, he made his return as a substitute in March of this year.
Barcelona & What's Next
In July 2025, Barça signed Roony Bardghji until June 2029 for a fee of $2,350,000. Though he is currently registered as a Barça Atlètic player, he is training with the first-team under the leadership of Hansi Flick who will assess his future. So far, the left-footed winger has impressed in training, and there is a chance he remains with the first-team—though he will struggle for minutes given that his competition is arguably the best player in the world, Lamine Yamal. As a Barça fan, I think Roony Bardghji is a smart and low-cost addition who brings depth and talent to the team. If managed well, he could grow into a valuable contributor for many seasons to come.
